Facial Sweating – How to Treat a Super Sweaty Face and Forehead

Sweating is part of the body’s normal processes. It is the way the body gets rid of dirt, impurities and toxins. It is a way for the body to cool off as well under hot conditions. Yes, you read it right. Sweating keeps your body cool and regulates temperature. However, there are certain circumstances or conditions wherein the body sweats more than it should. This condition is termed as hyperhydrosis.

Hyperhidrosis can occur in certain body regions like the underarm region (axillary hyperhydrosis), palms (palmar hyperhidrosis), and even on the face and scalp of a person (cranio-facial hyperhidrosis). These are just a few of the most common types of excessive sweating that more and more people are experiencing nowadays. It’s seriously starting to bother people and it even lowers their self-esteem a bit. Who knew such a simple condition could cause so much suffering?

People who have this horrible condition usually sweat in the forehead, cheek, temple area, hairline, and chin and even around the lip area. In some people and in severe cases, the sweating even extends down to the neck and scalp area. If is controlled, it would be fine. But if it isn’t treated, the problem could worsen.

The condition of excessive facial sweating commonly occurs in young people, especially those who are in their adolescent phase. There are lots of causes for this condition yet as most conditions, genetic predisposition is a major factor. If a member of your family, for example your father has this condition; there is a fifty percent chance that you can have it too. It may not manifest immediately, but during the course of time.

Another possible cause of excessive facial sweating can be the medications you take in and even the foods you eat. There are certain medications that increase the body’s production of sweat. Foods that are spicy and those that contain caffeine also trigger the body to produce more sweat. Please do yourself a favor and avoid these foods. It’s for your own good.

Although this may be socially debilitating condition, there are possible treatment solutions for this. The solutions will be based on the severity of your condition and on how well your body responds to the treatments. Remember that each person is different and the response to the treatment will vary greatly. What works for people you know will not be probably as effective for you.

You can pick from a list of natural remedies which include lifestyle modification and even drinking up home-made concoctions like sage tea to decrease sweating. Another facial sweating remedy is the use of anti-perspirant creams and talcum powders. This may not be the most permanent solution available, but it will provide you temporary relief.

If these do not work for you, try approaching your doctor. He can possibly prescribe medications for you that will decrease the production of bodily fluids. Another treatment option you can opt for (but should be the last resort) is surgery. It poses great risks but the effects are permanent.
